Muspi shivered slightly as he huddled around the small fire. He was running out of sunstone, and one of his cherished throwing knives was growing dull from using it so much. He grabbed one of his daggers from under his pant legs, and skewered the roasting... thing... off of the blazing hot rock in the middle. He wouldn't call it a squirrel, but it wasn't really a rabbit either. He didn't care, he needed the nutrition. He let his small meal cool down, then carved it into sections, and popped them in his mouth. For a small animal, it DID taste fairly good. Or it was his extreme hunger that made it taste so delicious.
A noise echoed from the entrance of the cave, and Muspi's eyes whirled almost faster than his body allowed, as he saw another one of the squirrel-rabbit-things skittering in. More than likely there was a den or two for those things in one of the many small branches of the cave...
A whisper followed by a squeal satisfied Muspi, the dagger was embedded in the creature's neck up to the hilt. A big one. Muspi got up, walked over to it, retrieved his dagger, wiping the blood off on the creatures short fur, then placed it near the fire, he would skin and cook it later, since he needed more wood for the fire. Another long trek across the chasms to find another gnarled tree to take down so he could survive. How joyful.
He hoped it wouldn't rain too much today. It was very near that time, the sun was almost at its zenith, based on the very little shadow cast outside. Muspi sighed and cursed quietly to himself, packed all his daggers and knives up again, and walked to the entrance of the cave.
